The 18 holes measure 4442m, AGU rating 65, Par 67, WGQ rating 65, Par 67.
Quoted distances are from the back tees and my club selections are for a player on a mid-range (say 14) handicap. White marker posts points 135m from the centre of the green.
The Front Nine (Holes 1-9)
Hole 1 (323m, par 4): With lake water looming left for the first 100m, an unnerving opening hole for any aqua phobic golfer. Answer with a strong drive to land your ball on the middle of the fairway. Then punch a sweet 8 iron to the flag where a kind green should help build your confidence. Bunker right of green.
Hole 2 (273m, par 4): The same lake comes into play again, but this time it’s about 200m from the tee on the left of the fairway. Play safe and aim a graceful 3 wood straight down the middle. Take extra care with your second shot pitch to the green because it backs onto a dam.
Hole 3 (100m, par 3): A tricky little teaser from an elevated tee. OOB left and that dam again on your right. Loft a classic 9 iron to the putting surface for a birdie putt.
Hole 4 (378m, par 4): The longest hole on the course and rated the hardest. Ignore the dam in play to your right and slam your best drive over it to the fairway beyond. OOB then threatens left. Your second shot will be a full mid-iron to a green that backs onto a not-so-narrow Tallebudgera Creek.
Hole 5 (258m, par 4): The creek is now on your left so direct your drive safely down the middle. Trees guard the green and a lake lurks beyond. A neat pitch should find your ball on the putting surface itching for a birdie putt.
Hole 6 (233m, par 4): A mild dog-leg left with the creek at the ready for unhappy hookers. With a memorable drawing 3 wood you could reach the green here with your tee shot - and find yourself putting for an eagle!
Hole 7 (121m, par 3): Trees menace from an elevated tee, but not as much as a lake beyond the green. Trust a solid 8 iron to keep you out of trouble. If you agree it’s and 8, play a 7 iron!
Hole 8 (243m, par 4): Accurate 3 wood with a delicate chip over the bunker, guarding the left hand side.
Hole 9 (269m, par 4): Calls for a full-blooded drive to an elevated green in front of the clubhouse. Your second shot will be a delicate pitch to the pin for a possible birdie putt.
